BSc History and Politics
Curious, analytical and dedicated
I specialize in History, Politics, and English Literature—subjects that have deeply influenced my academic journey and personal interests. My fascination with the intersection of History and Politics began with Beevor’s The Spanish Civil War and Orwell’s Homage to Catalonia, where I explored how political ideologies and historical contexts interact. This passion led me to examine broader perspectives through works like Skocpol’s States and Social Revolutions, Trotsky’s writings on the Russian Revolution, and philosophical classics such as Plato’s Republic and Mill’s On Liberty. These studies have shaped my ability to analyze complex ideas, evaluate diverse viewpoints, and connect historical events to their political implications. At school, I achieved 4 A*s in History, Politics, Mathematics, and the EPQ, and I am now pursuing History and Politics at the London School of Economics. My EPQ on self-ownership and bodily autonomy allowed me to explore the balance between freedom and moral responsibility, combining political philosophy with ethical inquiry. I was also a finalist in essay competitions like the Robson Prize and the Orwell Youth Prize, which honed my research and critical thinking skills. As a tutor, I focus on inspiring students to develop a genuine understanding of their subjects while equipping them with the tools to succeed academically. My student-centered approach ensures that lessons are tailored to individual needs, fostering both academic excellence and intellectual curiosity.
